    Breaking: Lassa Fever causes first death in Cross River

    The Commissioner of Health of Cross River state, Dr Inyang Abisong Haa confirmed the death of someone who has Lassa Fever in the state which follows a positive test result received from the Institute of Lassa Fever Research and Control, Irrua in Edo State.

    The announcement was made by the commissioner in a statement issued on Thursday. She made it known that the epidemiology team has started researching and testing as this is the first death caused by Lassa Fever in the state.


    The commissioner also advises everyone in the state to increase their personal hygiene, live a clean and healthy life because those things are the first preventive measures against Lassa Fever.

    The commissioner stated that personnel at primary healthcare centres across the state have been asked to watch out for signs and symptoms of Lassa fever in their patients and report any suspected case to the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA).
