    AFCON 2017: Christian Bassogog named AFCON 2017 Most Valuable Player

    Cameroon player, Christian Bassogog has been given the award and honour of "the Total Man of the match" after helping his country win the AFCON trophy on Sunday.

    The Cameroon players known as the "indomitable Lions" defeated Egypt with 2 goals to 1 in the AFCON final match at Libreville on Sunday, thereby winning the trophy for the fifth time.

    Bassogog who is 21 years of age was awarded the most valuable player.

    The AaB winger was an important part of the Cameroonian team, as they recorded important wins over Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Ghana and Egypt.
    Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) forward Junior Kabananga took home the 2017 AFCON Golden Boot after scoring three goals.
    Egypt was awarded the Fair Play prize.
